Design an Early Intervention Preschool geared toward children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This space should take into consideration the needs of these kids as they react differently to colors, sounds, and patterns, amongst other situations, it should also include learning spaces, such as classrooms, and any other spaces needed for the child to succeed, such as therapy spaces, sensory spaces, and indoor play.

My early childhood intervention preschool for children with autism is centered on the concept of aerial balance, using the symbolism of planes and flight to represent each child’s ability to grow, progress, and soar in their educational journey. The idea of flying became a guiding force throughout the design, influencing both the forms and material choices to create a space that feels uplifting, structured, and full of possibility. Soft curved forms, balanced spatial relationships, and light, calming materials were selected to reflect movement, stability, and advancement, reinforcing the idea that every child can build confidence and reach new heights in learning.
Create an environment that supports children of all sensory, social, and learning needs by providing flexible, accessible, and autism-friendly spaces where every child feels safe and valued.
Design forms, materials, and circulation that balance movement with stability, allowing children to explore independently while feeling grounded, secure, and emotionally regulated.
Use the concept of aerial balance and flight to inspire spaces that encourage confidence, curiosity, and steady developmental progress as children advance through early learning milestones.
