ABOUT ME

Design, to me, is the art of translating heritage into a physical experience. As a senior in the Interior Design program at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, I approach every project as a narrative waiting to be told, one that balances technical precision with a deep, emotional sense of place.

My design philosophy is rooted in my background. Originally from Argentina, my passion for cultural identity stems from seeing how environments can reflect the soul of a community. I believe that a space should not just function; it should evoke a sense of belonging. This drive led me to focus on hospitality, education, and multi-family housing, where the intersection of diverse backgrounds and shared environments is most vibrant.

In my studio work, I have cultivated a strong expertise in strategic space planning, ensuring that user flow is intuitive and purposeful. However, my true specialty lies in storytelling through design. I am particularly drawn to the world of hotel and restaurant design, where I can merge my interests in forward-thinking sustainability with the creation of immersive guest experiences. To me, a well-designed space isn't just a place, it is a journey into a specific culture and atmosphere.

As I prepare to graduate, I am eager to embark on this professional journey and contribute to a forward-thinking firm that values innovation and equity. I am committed to continuous growth and fully intend to pursue NCIDQ certification when the time is right, ensuring my creative vision is backed by the highest standards of professional excellence.

I am excited to bring my adaptability, my technical skills, and my perspective to the field, creating spaces that truly inspire and connect people.

Sincerely,

Lucia Jurado
